Yesterday I had the privilege of spending some time with Megan and Brad as we shot their engagement session. I love being able to get to know my couples before their wedding, as it gives me a chance to observe each couples' particular dynamic...and it gives the guys a chance to get used to my demands while shooting! Brad was a trooper and a good sport, though, and I am looking forward to their wedding next year!!
Brad's family had this milo field, which luckily for us hadn't been harvested yet!

how do I get so lucky....all my couples are just fab!

Rocky the dog was so cute!! I love it when couples incorporate their animals into the pictures...cause hey, they're family too!

One of Brad's old trucks made a fun prop.

a bit of sunflare by the farm that used to belong to Brad's grandparents.

Megan and Brad, we are gonna have a great time at your wedding! Can't wait!

I had a feeling when I first talked with Jamie via email that we would get along just fine. We have a mutual friend who had told Jamie about me when she started the search for a photographer. I am so glad she called, cause I just love these guys!
Horses are such a big part of Jamie and Chad's relationship that it was important to incorporate them into the engagement session, so they were a big part of the day! I must say, it's not often I get to ride a horse as part of a session...actually, I do believe this was a first! Led, held, pushed, pulled, made stupid noises and acted like a loon to get ears up...but never ridden. :-)

.....a few images of William and Kassandra's gorgeous engagement album! All their guests will sign this album in lieu of a traditional guest book. It's going to be awesome!!!

I first met Will and Kassy back in February, at the bridal show here in Hays. They were checking out the finest Hays has to offer when they came to my booth. Will, who LOVES motorcycles, loved my sample album with a shot of Ty and his bike. We got to talking - I really enjoyed speaking with them, and I guess they thought I was okay too. ;-) We chatted for a while, they left to go peruse the booths for a while, but came back later. They chose me as their photographer (which I am honored to be!) and so the journey began.
Fast forward to this week...cloudy, rainy days, minimal sunshine.....but we decided to make the most of it and go ahead with their engagement session. I am so glad we did as I just love these! Will and Kassy are two genuinely nice people. I love to spend time with them....we laughed and goofed a lot. I think we really connect well. I loved hearing about their first date - a wedding!
Here are a few from their E-session. Will and Kassy love each other very much, and I think it shows!

I really think this one shows their lighthearted nature...one of my favorites!

It was raining buckets all day and we thought we might have to cancel, but luckily we didn't! Although the sun didn't quite make it out for us, it was still a beautiful (to me!) evening for Jessica and Dave's engagement session!
Congratulations on your recent engagement and I wish you the best!
